The truth of the matter is that when we make some money, we're automatically crooks. But when customers beat you down within an inch of your life, take all of your comission, piss off your manager at you, and waste a whole days worth of work doing so, then it's "fair" and we're still somehow the bad guy.

This is why I liked the old Saturn model of "haggle-free" pricing. On the customer side, you knew what you were gonna pay, no need to beat up the salesperson because you thought the sticker had movement in it. On the dealer side, I'm sure that it made knowing what profit you had sitting on the lot easier. Also, pointing to the "no haggling" sign was probably cool.
As a kid, I remember watching my mom go through the process of buying her shiny new SL2, then compared it to my own experience of buying my VW years later. Worlds apart, and I didn't like the New World.

Scion tried to do the same thing, but because of their association with Toyota, people tried to haggle anyway lol.
